1996 Grady-White 268 Islander

At 4,660 pounds without engines or fuel, the Grady-White Islander 268 is a substantial, foam-filled, self-bailing offshore vessel that combines rugged fishing capability with the comfort and amenities of a cruiser for enjoyable weekend excursions.

Safety is a hallmark of the Islander 268, featuring a 28-inch-deep cockpit, a full transom, and non-skid walkaround decks. Serious offshore anglers will appreciate the horizontal rod racks, cockpit toe rails, oversized through-bolted hardware, and abundant tackle storage throughout the boat.

The helm area is thoughtfully designed with a comfortable helm seat and a lockable electronics box. To port, a bench seat converts into a forward-facing passenger seat for added comfort during rough-water passages. Beneath both the helm and bench seats are large, lockable dry-storage compartments.

The spacious 57-square-foot aft cockpit features more than 300 quarts of insulated storage with overboard drains. The starboard fish box offers 186 quarts of capacity, while the port-side compartment is divided into separate sections for beverages and your catch. Custom cushions transform the raised fish boxes into additional seating when needed.

At the stern, you’ll find a molded-in bench seat, a removable box that can be plumbed as a livewell, and a transom door providing easy access to the swim platform. The platform is equipped with a stainless-steel boarding ladder that folds flush into the surface when not in use.

Below deck, the cabin offers comfortable accommodations with forward V-berths, an enclosed head, and a full galley complete with a butane stove and refrigerator. A table between the berths lowers to create a double berth and stores conveniently in a dedicated compartment beneath the berth. A pressurized freshwater system supplies sinks in both the galley and head and features a 32-gallon water capacity.

Like most Grady-White models, the Islander 268 utilizes a robust three-piece construction consisting of a foam-filled hull, an inner liner fiberglassed to the stringer system, and a deck that is through-bolted to the inner liner. This construction method provides exceptional strength while allowing for integrated features such as fish boxes and electronics housings.

The Islander 268 is equipped with twin fuel tanks totaling 206 gallons. Designed for versatility, it can accommodate either a single or twin outboard configuration without transom modification. Single 30-inch-shaft outboards can be mounted on center, while twin 25-inch-shaft outboards can be mounted on 28-inch centers. This vessel is powered by twin Yamaha outboards and features hydraulic trim tabs and hydraulic steering for confident handling and performance.
